Šmartno ob Dreti

A place situated at a trade route, very important in the past, which was leading across the Lipa pass to Zadrečka valleys. In this area nothing important happened in the past. During the feudalism, the lords of Gornji Grad had their office (ministerial) in Šmartno ob Dreti. The first liberals appeared relatively soon. Before the First World War the inhabitants of the area already knew the national consciousness. In 1921 they founded their own bank and after the Second World War an agricultural cooperative.
